“I was numb until I remembered I was loved”

The first poem I remember ever writing was for my dad’s funeral program in January 1994. I was 7 years old. 30 years later, I have been writing poetry as a healing tool to get through and pass life’s hardships. It has become my healing, my love, my passion for the arts spoken through rhyming words and eclectic word play. I am a social worker by day and a poetic sunflower at night. I’ve always loved the idea of word play and using rhyming words to tell a story. I am that woman that enjoys a good lyricist flow over a nice musical melody and instrumental beat.
